Hi Gilles,

I have installed spacers the same thickness as those above and below the gunport positions and as wide as the keel immediately above the keel between the frames.  Looking at plate 10 that's all the spacers I see.  Are there other spacers nearer the keel?

My spacers between the frames immediately above the keel are not very conspicuous because they are the same width as the keel  all the way up.  Should the spacers have been shaped to fair flush with lower part of the frames?

J’ai installé de la même épaisseur que ceux au niveau des sabords et aussi large que la quille pour ceux qui se trouvent immédiatement sur la quille entre les couples.  En regardant la planche 10, se sont les seules clés que je vois.  Y a t’il d’aitres clés près de la quille?
Les clés que j’ai placé entre les couples ne se voient pas car ils ont les mêmes dimensions que la quille.  Est-ce que ces clés doivent aboutir au ras des couples?

It would seem that what you understand as being spacers shown on plate 10 are in fact parts of the deck-clamps (as they can be seen between the frames) and not spacers.
As far as spacers shown on the plans near the keel you have to look at plate 11.

Il semble que ce que vous prenez pour des clés au niveau et au dessus des sabords soient les parties de serre-beauquières que l'on apperçoit entre les couples.  Ce ne sont pas des clés.
En ce qui concerne les clés situées plus bas (vers la quille) il faut voir la planche 11.

Thank you for the clarification. It looks like I will have to remove the spacers erronously positioned and add the rows of spacers in question. It's a good thing 90% rubbing alcohol does a good job releasing the glue bond.

Je suppose que c'est juste pour la photo et que normalement vous maintenez le tout dans un chantier, sinon vous risquez d'avoir des problèmes d'alignement plus tard.

I suppose that for the purpose of taking the photo, you have remove the upper level of the building board.  If not you may have a problem keeping the frames aligned.

Peut être un peu risqué pour un débutant.
Attention aux erreurs qui se cumulent. Pour ma part j'ai galéré pour la pose à la bonne place des péceintes (mes premières et en plus en ébène) et j'étais bien content d'avoir mon chantier pour bien mesurer dans tous les sens

Maybe a little risky for a biginner.  Possible cumullation of errors.  I myself had a hard time installing the wales (my first and on top of everything esle I udes ebony).  I was very happy to have used the building board to measure in every direction.

Marc and Jean Paul thanks for the comments. Actually I have tried it both ways. I am still experimenting. As I think I said elsewhere, I have made enough mistakes on this my first upright  plank on frame model that I consider my present efforts little more than preparation for starting from scratch at some point in the near future and doing it right.  In the meantime I am studying the Korent GV newsletters carefully and benefitting greatly from the forum contributors.

J'ai essayé les deux méthodes et j'expérimente encore.  Come je pense que je l'ai dit auparavant, j'ai fait fait assez d'erreurs sur ce premier essai que je le considère comme une préparation à la construction fidèle au plan pour plus tard.  En attendant j'étudie les Bulletins et bénéficie grandement des contributeurs sur le forum.

J'avais pas vu le chantier plus haut . Je pense que c'est plus sur pour un début. J'apprends par l'expérience que la préparation c'est long, qu'on n'avance pas mais à la fin on est vraiment récompensé. Richard, pourquoi refaire, ça a l'air vraiment très bien et on peut quand même corriger les petites erreurs.

I did not see the building board above.  I think that it is easier with it for a start.  I am learning by experiencing a long preparation, slow progress but in the end it is worth it.  Why redo, it looks good and small errors can be fixed.

The 6 Frames on the right are the identival midship frames.  The spacers near the top of frames are
temporary until I can install the bilge spacers in a smooth curve and do preliminary sanding inside the hull.

Les 6 couples sur la droite sont les couples identiques situés au centre de la membrure. Les clés en haut des couples sont temporaires.  Elles seront laissées en place jusqu'à l'intallation des clés inférieures et ponçage de l'intérieur.

Thank you Jean Paul and Marcel for the kind words of encouragement and for the good examples you have provided to aspire to.

As for the preliminary nature of my work on GV, needless to say, the photos fail to show my many errors. By the way Jean Paul you look quite dapper in your personal photo. Your GV model is looking great as well. It is certainly nice to put a face on our fellow modelers.
