SPOILER EPISODE 2.01

copier/coller d'un texte édité sur "ain't it cool" aujourd'hui

Lost 2.1 FAQ

What’s it called?
“Man of Science, Man of Faith.”

Who’s responsible?
Teleplay is creditd to series creator Damon Lindelof.

What does TV Guide say?
“As the second season opens, one of the castaways enters the hatch and discovers its contents. Also, a survivor of the attack on the raft makes an appearance. As does Jack’s wife, Sarah (Julie Bowen), in a flashback. Meanwhile, Shannon runs into a familiar face in the jungle.”

What’s in the hatch?
I don't want to spoil this one... I can say that you don't have to wait long to get a glimpse of what's in there. It is shown in it's entirety at the very end of the episode. Hint... it begins with a D!

Who goes in the hatch?
Kate, followed later by Locke and Jack.

What happened to Michael, Jin, Sawyer, and Walt on the boat?
Sadly the only one you see in this episode is Walt... the scene is odd to say the least.

Do we find out the meaning of the numbers?
We do not.

Do we see the monster?
Nope... sorry!

Does someone kick the bucket?
I don't think so... but it is left up in the air.

Whose episode is it?
All of the flashbacks in the episode belonged to Jack. Pay very close attention to the last one.

That's about all I can say! It was a good episode but not a whole lot of plot advancement. It starts off right where the last one left off. It is shot entirely within that night (except for the flashbacks).

"L'épisode quatre s'intitulera "Everybody Hates Hugo," écrit par Edward Kitsis et Adam Horowitz, et réalisé par Alan Taylor. L'épisode cinq sera intitulé "...and Found," écrit par les producteurs exécutifs Carlton Cuse et Damon Lindelof — et si vous suivez régulièrement la série, vous savez probablement déjà sur quels personnages seront focalisés les flashbacks --- Les indices sont dans les titres !"

voici le résumé (en anglais désolé) du premier épisode :

The season opener starts with a "previously on Lost" recap of events which happened last season. After that the buzzing of an alarm clock goes off and we are in someones room. The unknown man wakes up and is going about his morning routine of working out, making breakfast, showering, etc. During his routine, an explosion is heard and the room shakes. The man rushes to grab a gun as the camera moves away and out of the room, down a corridor, and up a shaft to show Locke and Jack peering down the hatch.

The flashbacks in this episode center around Jack in what seems to be his earliest flashback to date, excluding the childhood ones. He is sporting a new, longer, haircut and we see him in the emergency room treating victims of a car crash. He is forced to decide between working on the man who was hit or the woman who crashed her car into the other guy. He chooses the woman and works his magic. After the emergency room sequence we see that the woman is in fact Julie Bowen who played Jack's wife last season. She needs an operation because her spine is crushed and will almost certainly be permanently paralyzed for the rest of her life. Jack isn't too optimistic about her situation.

Afterwards, Jack is called aside by his father who tells him that he has to be optimistic at times even though it may be giving false hope. Jack then promises Sarah that he will fix her before starting the operation. Next we see Jack running up and down stairs in a stadium. Jack slips on a stair and twists his ankle, but another runner comes over and helps Jack. They get to talking and the other guy's name is Desmund. He is an athlete training to go around the world. He talks to Jack about his promise to fix Sarah and that he broke his promise and they talk about miracles happening. Desmund gets up and before leaving says, "see you in another life." Sarah wakes up after the surgery and

Jack is sititng by the bed. He tells her that he broke the promise and that she is paralyzed from the waist down. She says that he must be joking because she can wiggle her toes. They share a happy moment.

Note that this all takes place throughout the episode through several flashbacks, not just one like I described it.

Back on the island, Hurley explains to Jack about the numbers being bad luck and Jack replies, "they're just numbers." Seeing that the ladder down the hatch is broken, Jack decides to go back to the others and tell them that they need to find somewhere else to hide since they can't lower everyone into the hatch one by one. Back at the camp, Shannon has lost Vincent and goes off looking for him along with Sayid. They are seperated and Shannon sees a drenched Walt standing in the middle of the jungle. Sayid comes up behind Shannon and she turns back but Walt is gone. Jack tells everyone that they can't go into the hatch, but they can make cmap there and that they'll be fine. Locke comes back to gather some cables because he is going into the hatch. After talking with Jack, Kate decides to go along with Locke.

Locke lowers Kate into the hatch and at the bottom, she says that theres something down there. Next thing you know white light is shining out of the hatch and Locke pulls up a Kate-less cable. Locke decides to go in after her. Jack goes after Kate and Locke and gets to the hatch to see no one there. He uses the cable to descend into the hatch.

At the bottom is a long corridor, reminiscent of a submarine in the way that there are pipes all over. There is a wall with a large mural painted on the wall with the paints still on the ground next to it. Then there is a sound of a motor which turns out to be something like a surveilance camera. Jack pulls out the gun and all of a sudden loud music starts playing and bright white light is shining down the corridors. Jack turns down a hall away from the light and makes his way into a large room with lots of computers and machinery. He is about to press a button on one of the keyboards when, from behind, Locke says, "you shouldn't do that." Jack turns around and pulls the gun on Locke. Then a gun is pulled to the side of Locke and we see the mysterious man from the beginning, but not much of his face. After some threats and a false shot being fired, we see that the mysterious man is actually Desmund, whom Jack met in his flashback. Jack says, "you...?" and the episode closes with the trademark "LOST" and DOOSH sound.

Une autre version(par un(e) autre fan) avec un point de vue assez différent(désolée, mais j'ai la flemme de traduire):
MAJOR EPISODE 1, SEASON 2 *****SPOILER***** READ NO MORE IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW!!!
OMIGOD it WAS AWeSOME!!! . . .
On the last episode recap. Opening scene: a man wakes up, can't see his face. He's in a large room, geodesic dome kind of architecture...takes a shower...can't see his face but from behind he looks nothing like anyone we've seen before. Takes out a phonograph record (clue alert), puts the needle from an industrial kind of turntable on (clue alert) and this music from the 60's plays (clue alert) I can't remember the artist but it was like Petula Clark or something..."Sing my own kind of music, play my own special song" Make breakfast, still all we see is body parts, no face. Puts into a blender some powder, a FRESH egg, liquid. Shoots a vial of yellow liquid into his bicep with one of those "shot" guns. Starts excercising on a stationary bicycle. I see it is an old kind. YES WE ARE IN THE HATCH!!!!!!! acomputer is beeping with some kind of radar...I think it was at the beginning of the scene. All of a sudden the record skips with a violent "BOOM" Our castaways just blew the hatch. The nameless man goes and uses something that looks like a series of cameras and mirrors that goes down various dank, cellar like hallways, and we see an image of Jack and Terry (sorry I keep jumping back and forth between real names/character names).

Lots of dark jungle scenes. Hurley is great. has some really good lines. Explains to Jack the whole mental institution, crazy guy, numbers, 114 million, father dies, house burns down...chicken place where he worked getting hit by a meteor? the curse, the numbers on the hatch. All Jack says is "You were in a mental instutution?" Hurley says his bedside manner sucks and we go to Jack's past.

We meet his future wife...she is a car wreck patient in emergency... broken back. He struggles with his bedside manner.

Goes running in a stadium at night. Another runner shows up going really fast. Testerone kicks in and Jack tries to keep up with the stranger, falls, hurts his ankle. The guy comes over, nice Austrailan accent. Asks Jack if he is ok. they talk. Jack opens up a little to this perfect stranger. Talks about the patient, the guy tells him that he might not be able to "fix" her but he can "Lift her" whatever the hell that means. There are a lot of flashbacks throughout between Jack and this woman. has importance but not worth detailing.

ANYWAY...Shannon has lost the dog. Goes into the jungle with Sahid to look for him...they spot him Sahid goes around behind him, then Shannon doesn't see the dog, she calls for Sahid, no answer. All of a sudden, there is WALT. I can't tell if he is bloodied or wet he says something..but I couldn't hear....remember this is being shown on a big screen, out on the beach. 14 foot waves on the South shore and it's raining, so I probably missed a lot of dialog and visual details.

So, Walt says something then Sahid is heard running back to Shannon, she turns to see where Sahid is coming from, turns back and Walt is not there. Back at camp, no one believes her, but we all know Walt has special powers so I'm sure she did see him, he just wasn't physically there.

Earlier, after blowing the hatch, Jack made everyone go back to camp. He didn't want anyone going down and didn't see how everyone could get down to "hide" from the others.

Terry and Kate decide to go back. KAte is lowered down with a flashlight. The rope slips, she drops the flashlight. She decides to keep going down, but when she looks down, she sees something next to the flashlight (damn this weather, I cannot for the life of me figure out what it is) it might be a photo, it might be a camera, it might be a mirror...sorry I could not tell. Kate freaks out, then suddenly a bright light shoots out of the hatch, Kate screams. Kate is gone. Terry goes down the hatch.

back at camp,Jack finds out where those two have gone...goes after them. Gets to the hatch opening, no one around. He goes down. Gets to the bottom. Dusty old hallways....dust covered plastic containers here and there...dungeon or bomb shelter like hallways...a key, he enters the place where we saw the guy in the first scene. The music is playing REALLY LOUD "Sing my own kind of music, play my own special song..." sees the computer....looks like something from the 80's. about to touch a button and Terry says "I wouldn't do that" He has a gun to his head. Jack has his gun up...we hear Kate somewhere in the background, muffled yells for Jack. Can't see the man holding the gun. He yells at Jack to put it down. Jack keeps yelling "where's Kate?" see half of man's face....yelling at Jack to "drop it" in....A NICE AUSTRALIAN ACCENT.... WE SEE HIS FACE........

It's the man from the stadium...the one that Jack was racing when he hurt his ankle. He looks darker but it is him.

OH MY GOD. TRIPPPINNN

Cut back to Jack and his patient/future wife. He's crying as he tells her he can't fix her...that she will be paralyzed from the waist down for the rest of her life....He is so sorry, crying...she says "are you yanking my chain?" and startled he said no, it's true...so she says "so why can I wiggle my Toes? and amazed, disbelieving, goes down and damn if she doesnt have feeling in her legs...they are so happy! They don't understand, but she is miraculously cured!! He thought he failed, but he didn't.

The end.
