Since, the last cd-i players were sold at the end of the last century, I wonder when the last cd-i player will go away.
Many players are throw to the dustbin and our community decrease each year.
I remember an old friend which made programs for atari st computers many years after, until he join the modernism when nobody was interested about his programs.
Does someone know how to prolong the lifetime of a cd-i player ?
Does it has to be powered up each month ?

Hello Delorehal,

I think you're right.
Year after year we lost CD-i lovers ands the 2 important questions are "why?" and "How to keep them?".
Well, for the 1st question, it's obviusly simple, our wonderful CD-i is a little "old" and for sure, people prefer play on a PlayStation2, Xbox ,GameCube or other new consoles...

Now about the other question, it's a little hardder to answer because there is so much to do... in differents ways, but not really easy to do.

Updates each month will only keep people informed about some news and usualy about website news.
How to prolong the CD-i timelife...?
Easy to answer hadr to make... We need more stuff, more games, try to create new things (we are working on some things who will bring a new face to the CD-i community http://pradogatao.free.fr/cdi/img_sp_forum_smile_41.gif ).

It's hardder or almost impossible now to find a store selling CD-i games and consoles. The few ones are only in 2nd hand (better than nothing for sure).

In "Le Monde du CD-i" we are trying to keep Community informed about some news, and to let them know better thinks already existing.

We can't forguet that a lot o people love olddies and some of them only now heard about the CD-i. We are here to help them.

But one thing is sure we are trying hard to keep our work going on, with our Website, chat room (IRC), this forum, and our CD-i Magazine. http://pradogatao.free.fr/cdi/img_sp_forum_smile_12.gif

Cheers!
