Je voudrais vous parler d'un lecteur cdi peu connu, il s'agit du Goldstar GDI 700.
C'est un modèle que l'on trouve pour bon marché sur ebay et dont les caractéristiques sont pourtant interressantes :
- processeur Motorola 68341, dérivé du 68020, bien plus puissant que le 68070 équipant la quasi totalité des lecteurs cdi,
- 32 kb de NVRAM, soit autant que les lecteurs cdi de dernieres generation,
- vrai port série au format PC, acceptant des taux de transfert élevés,
- port parallele pour connection imprimante.

LG (anciennement Goldstar) en tant que 2e fabricant de lecteur cdi apres philips prouve que le cdi fut bel et bien en son temps un vrai standard.

Voila, je voulais que ce lecteur méconnue ait un peu plus de crédit.

le port // il avait une application ?

Le port parallele permettait de brancher une imprimante PC classique, mais il fallait que l'application charge les drivers correspondants.
Le cdi 670 lui, avait un port parallele bidirectionnel spécialement concu pour brancher un lecteur externe zip parallele.
Les pilotes étaient présents en ROM.

Yes it is.


You need the adequate cable and the adequate modem because they are a difference betwen a CD-i modem and a PC modem:

- The PC modem need configuration by CD or with a list already stored on the windows.

- The CD-i modem just need to be connected and work fine, but "web-i" have been stopped by Philips.

If someone are able to connect into internet by a CD-i player, please contact us, we would like to know more about this.

Web-i was only available in the USA, is that right?

I don´t know anyone who´s got that, but I had a (US) modem for the Sega Saturn and that still works, you can still play the special editions of Daytona, Sega Rally, Bomberman and Virtual On online! There´s no server, you just have to call the person you want to play with.
Where there any Online-Games on the CD-i?

Web-i, full name "web-i land" was available in England too.

CD-i On-line games forecast but as I know no one have been done.

There was a website dedicated to web-i. It was "www.web-i.com", but this website work no more.
