I think the high resolution is fine.  The photos can always be reduced with an image program like IRFAN (free on the web), but the smaller pictures cannot be enlarged.

Je ne pense que les photos en grand format posent de problème.  Elles peuvent être réduites avec un logicel comme IRFAN (gratuit sur internet) mais les photos en pewtit format ne peuvent être aggrandies.

une petite astuce que j'ai découverte    .
J'ai mélangé de la gouache noire à la colle bois (blanche) classique .

1) ce mélange n'impreigne pas le bois et une fois sèché on gratte l'excédent ce qui ne laisse aucune trace    

2) ce mélange colle    .

J'avais tenté avec du papier de soie noir. Mais la manipulation est très fragile, certainement trop fin  
(Je suis au 1/48 ème)

A trick that I discovered.
I mixed black gouache paint with wood glue.

1) this mixture does not stain the wood.  Once dry, scrape the excess, it will not leave any trace.

2) mixing the two does not affect the glue.

I tried working with black paper, but it was just to fragile as the paper must be to thin.

India Ink can also be mixed with glue such as Titebond for a
caulking effect. I have also used a black felt tip marker pen on the edges of planks for a pleasing effect.

On peut également utiliser de l'encre de chine mélanger à de la colle pour réaliser l'effet du calfaltage.  J'ai aussi utiliser un feutre noir sur les extrémités des bordés pour le même effet.

Very nice work   , however I do have a question on the tree nails used to fasten the deck planks. Was it normal French practice to use metal fasteners on the deck?. On the ships that I have been on, Cutty sark,Victory and Constellation, all of the deck fasteners were wood. Now I will admit that none of the ships mentioned were French, but...

Très beau travail    mais j'ai une question à propos de la fixation du bordage pour le pont.  Était-ce normal d'utiliser des clous?  Sur les navires que j'ai visité; Cutty Sark, Victory and Constellation, les bordés sont fixés avec des gournables.  J'admet cepandant que ces navires ne sont pas français, mais.....

De tout temps, la fixation du bordage des navires français n'a jamais été faite avec gournables, uniquement avec des clous.

Est-ce que la tête des clous qui fixent le bordage des ponts est systématiquement recouverte par une rondelle en bois.  Ou comme indiqué dans le 74, cette méthode est elle uniquement utilisée pour les planchers réservés aux officiers (page 141 du tome 1)?
je pense qu'en ce qui concerne les bâtiments anglais, cette méthode était systématiquement utilisée sur les ponts.

Was the head of the nails systematically covered with a round  wooden plug for the deck planking or was this method simply reserved for the officer's quarter as indicated in tome 1 page 141 of the 74 on french ships?
I think that on the british ships, this method may have been  used for the whole deck.
